Focus: Social Sciences
“To Rethink Work Today” insists on the perspective of the centrality of living labor based on some central references, such as the notion of a “species-being” (ontological). From this classic (epistemological) reference, it proposes greater attention to the so-called “real work,” in different modalities of approach: from global labor history, through the psychodynamics of work, to the new wave of global expansion of the “workers’ inquiry.” To rethink the so-called “centrality of work” from the axiological centrality of the knowledge of the being-who-works, it is necessary to rethink not only the said research on work but also the work of research. Far from an empty play on words, it is, in fact, a strategic reorientation of public social sciences in relation to a dense, visible public, and against the grain of the commodity form.
