Hands-on to Solve Particle Detection Tracks Using a High Resolution Camera (Based on The Cygno Experiment)

Focus: Engineering and Physics

The course will be an opportunity to apply image processing concepts for the reconstruction of tracks produced by particles crossing a TPC (Time Projection Chamber) based detector. The course will be divided into three modules: (1) General introduction, (2) Filtering techniques and (3) clustering techniques. The main idea is to make the student apply such techniques in a real database made available by the CYGNO Experiment, founded by the Italian Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). Brazil, through our University (UFJF) and other institutes, is part of the CYGNO Collaboration.

“Special thanks to the CYGNO collaboration for granting us access to their data for our hands-on experience.”
