We Have Nothing to Hide: An Introduction to Privacy Issues in the Digital Age

Focus: Computer Science

In the Digital Age, almost every person in the world owns at least one electronic internet-capable device. On one hand, we are aware of the benefits of using these devices on our daily routine as they might enhance our productivity and give comfort to their users. On the other hand, privacy is constantly overlooked, however, users are (sometimes on purpose sometimes not) uninformed or even misinformed of how their data is at risk and the effects of the lack of privacy that can potentially affect how society works. This talk tries to shed some light on the privacy-related issues, expose some of the actors involved in anti-privacy actions and the methods they use and point the direction to measurements that mitigate the threat and strengthen the security of our digital lives.
