A measuring Perspective for the Rational Number Knowledge

In the course, we will explore ideas and moments in the history of mathematics, neuroscience, and mathematics education to understand the roots human cognition of rational numbers. Also, we will investigate how fractional numbers are taught nowadays, how current instructional approaches veered from the history of fractions, and consequential cognitive problems students encounter. Finally, to address those cognitive problems, we will examine an alternative instructional proposal.
