Dark Matter Direct Detection

Focus: Physics

One of the biggest challenges in physics today is to discover the true nature of dark matter, still undetected despite appearing to make up a quarter of the matter in the Universe. This course will provide a foundation on the problem of dark matter and will present the state of the art related to the experiments and technologies used for its detection.
TOPICS:
– Introduction to Dark Matter
– Experimental signatures and detecting technologies
– Main direct detection experiments
– Detecting the recoil direction
– Conclusions and perspectives
