He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1987), a Master’s degree (1992), and a Doctorate (1999) from the Civil Engineering Program of the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Engineering Research (PEC-COPPE/UFRJ) in conjunction with the National Laboratory of Scientific Computing (LNCC/MCT). He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. He has experience in Civil Engineering, emphasizing structural mechanics and structural optimization using meta-heuristics such as Genetic Algorithms, PSO, and Differential Evolution. He is a permanent professor of graduate programs in Civil Engineering and Computational Modeling at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora.
