I graduated in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1987), master’s degree (1992) and doctorate (1999) from the Civil Engineering Program of the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering (PEC-COPPE/UFRJ) in jointly with the National Laboratory of Scientific Computing (LNCC/MCT). He was director of the Regional Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CRITT) at UFJF. He is currently a Full Professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. I have experience in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural mechanics and structural optimization using metaheuristics such as Genetic Algorithms, PSO and Differential Evolution. I am a founding member of the Brazilian Association of Computational Mechanics (ABMEC) and a founding member and permanent professor of the graduate programs in Civil Engineering (PEC) and Computational Modeling (PGMC) at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora
