Refugee Visiting Professor – Academic Solidarity’s Emergency Post-Graduation Development’s Program

The Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at the UFJF, in partnership with the Postgraduate Program in History and Linguistics at the UFJF and the Sergio Vieira de Melo Chair – UFJF, is selecting (02) Two Refugees with a doctorate degree for 24 months as Visiting Professor. This funded position is part of the Graduate Development Program – Academic Solidarity.

We are looking for two candidates with an active research agenda on topics related to cultural heritage that intersect in the field of Human Sciences, with an emphasis on areas such as: History, Archaeology, Museology, Sociology, Anthropology, Architecture, Linguistics, Education and/or Relations International, from any part of the world, including Brazil, to participate in the Sergio Vieira de Mello Chair and in the postgraduate programs involved.

The successful candidate will contribute to the research and offer a course to the Graduate and Graduate Programs in History and/or Linguistic (in Portuguese, English or Spanish) on a campus with good conditions, close to Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, in the Southeast of Brazil.

Applicants for the position must have a doctoral degree relevant for the position (History, Archaeologic, Museologic, Linguistic, Archteture, International Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, Educaction, etc) and demonstrate strong engagement with forced migration and refugee studies in na interdisciplinary perspective.

  • Location: Juiz de Fora Federal University, in Juiz de Fora – Minas Gerais State, Brazil (Close to Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte)
  • Hours: Full time (40 hours per week)
  • Contract type: 24-Month Fixed-Term
  • Nationality: Any
  • Grant: R$ 14,000.00 (around US$ 2,545.00) monthly
  • Round-trip airline tickets will be paid for

We expect a starting date by August 2023.

* A letter of motivation explaining what you intend to do as a project during the scholarship period (in english, spanish or portuguese)
* A Curriculum Vitae (including publication list, degrees earned, positions held, teaching experience, and research projects)
* One writing sample that proves adherence to the project.
