PPGE

The Graduate Program in Education at UFJF was created in 1994, approved in the institution by CONSU’s Resolution number 09/94 on April 28, 1994, starting its Master’s activities in March 1995. It was recommended by CAPES on April 9th, 1999, and recognized by MEC through Ordinance #1734 on December 7th, 1999. It has a 4 concept, according to the criteria of CAPES – Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level Personnel) and, since 2008 it also works at the PhD level. The PPGE/UFJF is organized around an integrating axis, the area of concentration:

BRAZILIAN EDUCATION: MANAGEMENT AND PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICES – The focus of analysis is the social and political processes that configure the relationship between the State and society in the Brazilian educational reality, as well as the specific processes of knowledge construction in the school environment. Hence the importance of the debate about evaluation procedures and public policies that materialize in educational systems and guide the various pedagogical practices. One of the fundamental processes that will be a permanent object of inquiry is public education, developed in the different levels of education, trying to identify the possibilities and perspectives of transformation and overcoming of its limits. Considering that the public sphere does not concern exclusively the state, but the whole society, what is desired is to contribute so that the educational processes become effective agents of democratization of the Brazilian society. This integrating axis unfolds in two research lines: WORK, STATE AND SOCIAL MOVEMENTS; LANGUAGES, CULTURES AND KNOWLEDGE; DISCURSES, PRACTICES, IDEAS AND SUBJECTIVITIES IN EDUCATIONAL PROCESSES.
