PPGMC no evento Global July 2024 da UFJF

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Modelagem Computacional da UFJF oferece cursos e palestras sobre Cardiologia Computacional em Julho

As inscrições para o programa Global July 2024 já estão abertas e vão até o dia 14 de julho. São oferecidos 24 cursos gratuitos nas modalidades presencial e on-line. Podem participar membros da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF), incluindo alunos de graduação e pós-graduação, servidores técnico-administrativos (TAEs) e docentes, além de professores e estudantes de instituições conveniadas. O evento acontece entre os dias 22 de julho e 9 de agosto, com aulas ministradas em inglês.

Destacam-se dois cursos e duas palestras na área de Cardiologia Computacional, que serão oferecidos por professores da Universidade de Oxford, Universidade de King’s College London, UFJF e UFSJ de maneira presencial. 
Inscrições:

As inscrições devem ser realizadas por meio de um formulário on-line disponível na seção Application/Pré-inscrições do site do programa. É necessário estar conectado a uma conta Google institucional para inserir as informações necessárias. Cada candidato pode se inscrever em até quatro cursos, independentemente da modalidade.

 

Cursos

O primeiro curso é voltado para pessoas que já tenham alguma experiência com disciplinas de Cálculo e Programação. Já o segundo curso trará uma abordagem multidisciplinar para apresentar conceitos da área para um público mais abrangente, incluindo médicos, biólogos, engenheiros, matemáticos e demais estudantes e profissionais interessados. As atividades serão presenciais.

Certificado e Créditos de disciplinas

 

Os participantes que alcançarem uma frequência mínima de 75% no curso e responderem a um questionário de avaliação on-line ao final da atividade receberão certificado de participação. Além disso, os cursos podem ser contabilizados como disciplinas da pós-graduação ou graduação. No caso dos cursos oferecidos pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Modelagem Computacional, a realização de um dos cursos equivale a 01 crédito (15 horas), enquanto que a realização dos dois cursos será equivalente a uma disciplina de 3 créditos (45 horas).

Palestra 1: Digital Twin-Guided Catheter Ablation for Cardiac Ventricular Arrhythmias, 29/07/2024, 10:00-11:00, Auditório 1, Centro de Ciências, UFJF

Blanca Rodriguez, University of Oxford, UK

Professor Blanca Rodriguez is Professor of Computational Medicine, Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Computational Biology and Health Informatics Theme at the Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford. She has raised over £40 million as principal or co-investigator and leads the Computational Cardiovascular Science team (www.cs.ox.ac.uk/ccs). She is interested in novel, interdisciplinary methodologies to accelerate therapy development and replace animal testing through collaboration with industry and regulators. Her team has contributed pioneering case studies for the Digital Twin vision in precision medicine, and In Silico Trials for therapy testing. She has a deep commitment to training on technical aspects of modelling and simulation including verification, validation and uncertainty quantification, but importantly also skills for effective interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaborations.

 

Fernando Otaviano Campos, King’s College London, UK

Fernando received his B.Sc. in Computer Science and M.Sc. in Computational Modelling degrees from the Federal University of Juiz de fora, Brazil, before completing a PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Graz University of Technology, Austria in 2012. He was awarded a Science Without Borders Scholarship to carry out research on the mechanisms of spontaneous arrhythmias in post-infarction hearts at German Heart Institute Berlin, Germany. In 2017 he was appointed Research Associate at King’s College London, where he conducts research on the field of computational cardiology using the Digital Twin technology to understand arrhythmia mechanisms in heart diseases and improve clinical practice.

 

Rodrigo Weber dos Santos, Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil

Dr. Rodrigo Weber dos Santos is a full professor in the Graduate Program in Computational Modeling, and the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) in Brazil. With nearly 20 years of service at UFJF, Dr. Santos has established himself as a leader in computational modeling in biomedical engineering, focusing on heart modeling. He has published over 200 scientific papers in high-impact journals, accruing over 3000 citations, and received awards such as the Endeavor Leadership Award from Australia and the Highly Productive Scientist Award in Brazil. Dr. Santos has supervised numerous PhD and master’s theses, shaping a new generation of computational modeling and biomedical engineering professionals.

 

Bernardo Martins Rocha, Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil

He has a degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (2006), a master’s degree in Computational Modeling from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (2008) and a doctorate from the National Scientific Computing Laboratory. He has large experience in computational modeling, high-performance computing, numerical methods for solving differential equations, modeling cardiac electrophysiology and computational mechanics. He is currently a professor at the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora.

 

Rafael Sachetto Olveira,  Federal University of São João del-Rei, Brazil

Received his BSc in Computer Science from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora in 2006 his MSc in Computing Modelling from Federal University of Juiz de Fora in 2008 and his PhD in Computer Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and his research is mainly in the following areas: computational modelling, parallel computing and high performance computing. He is currently a Professor at the Federal University of São João del-Rei.

Joventino de Oliveria Campos, Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil

Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF). With PhD and master’s degrees in Computational Modeling from PPGMC-UFJF, and bachelor’s degrees in Computational Engineering, Computer Science and Exact Sciences from UFJF. He works in computational modeling of cardiac electrical and mechanical activities, numerical methods for solving differential equations and high-performance computing.

 

Thaiz Ruberti Schmal, Ebserh – University Hospital, Juiz de Fora, Brazil

Graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), she completed the medical residency in cardiology at the Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital-UFRJ and holds a Master’s degree from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF). She has large experience in tomography and cardiovascular resonance after training in Berlin, Germany, at the Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin (German Heart Institute-Berlin), where she participated in several scientific studies in the area. She is a medical doctor and preceptor of medical residency and internship at the University Hospital of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora and at CEDIMAGEM CENTRO DE DIAGNOSTIC. In both, she is the coordinator of the adult cardiac resonance and tomography area.

 

Thiago Gonçalves Schroder e Souza, Ebserh – University Hospital, Juiz de Fora, Brazil

Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (2009), Residency in Clinical Medicine from the Hospital das Clínicas of UFMG (2012), Residency in Cardiology from the Instituto Dante Pazzanese de Cardiologia (2014) and PhD in Medicine – Technology and Intervention in Cardiology at the University of São Paulo (USP). He holds the title of Specialist in Cardiology from the Brazilian Medical Association and the Brazilian Society of Cardiology, is a Qualified Member of the Department of Artificial Cardiac Stimulation of the Brazilian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery and holds the title of Area of ​​Expertise in Implantable Electronic Cardiac Stimulation from SBC/SBCCV/AMB. He has experience in Cardiology with an emphasis on the treatment of arrhythmias and heart failure. He is currently Coordinator of the Heart Failure Outpatient Clinic at the UFJF University Hospital, Doctor at the Cardiac Arrhythmias Service (Electrophysiology and Pacemaker) at the Monte Sinai Hospital, Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Juiz de Fora and the Hospital do Coração de JF.

Noemi Zeraick Monteiro, Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil

PhD candidate in Computational Modeling (UFJF) (2022.1 – present). Moderator of the OBMEP Mathematics Clubs project (2014.1 – present). Master’s degree in Mathematics (UFJF/ PICME) (2019.1 – 2021.2). Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics UAB-UFJF (2014.2-2018.1). Research student at UFJF through PICME (2015.2-2018.1). Teacher at OBMEP’s PIC Jr. program (2017 – 2018). Course instructor in the Mentors program at OBMEP (2017.1). Teacher at the Matematique project (2023.2). During basic education: seven-time medalist at OBMEP (2007-2013), two-time medalist at OBFEP (2012-2013), and CNPq scholarship recipient in OBMEP’s PIC Jr. program (2009 – 2013).

Graduate Program in Computational Modeling at UFJF Offers Courses and Lectures on Computational Cardiology in July
Registrations for the Global July 2024 program are now open until July 14th. A total of 24 free courses are offered in both in-person and online formats. Members of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), including undergraduate and postgraduate students, technical-administrative staff (TAEs), and faculty, as well as teachers and students from partner institutions, are eligible to participate. The event takes place from July 22nd to August 9th, with classes conducted in English.
Two courses and two lectures in the field of Computational Cardiology stand out, offered in person by professors from the University of Oxford, King’s College London, UFJF, and UFSJ.
Registrations:
Registrations must be made through an online form available in the Application/Pre-registrations section of the program’s website. Logging into an institutional Google account to enter the required information is necessary. Each candidate can register for up to four courses, regardless of the format.
Courses:
The first course is aimed at individuals with some experience with Calculus and Programming. The second course will take a multidisciplinary approach to introduce concepts in the field to a broader audience, including doctors, biologists, engineers, mathematicians, and other interested students and professionals. The activities will be in person.

Certificate and Course Credits:
Participants who achieve a minimum attendance of 75% in the course and complete an online evaluation questionnaire at the end of the activity will receive a participation certificate. Additionally, the courses can be counted as postgraduate or undergraduate subjects. For courses offered by the Postgraduate Program in Computational Modeling, completing one course is equivalent to 1 credit (15 hours), while completing two courses is equivalent to a 3-credit subject (45 hours).
