UFJF
Located in the city of Juiz de Fora, UFJF is a university with more than 50 years of history. A reference in the scientific and cultural fields for the southeast region of Minas Gerais, UFJF offers 74 undergraduate courses, 33 masters and 15 doctorate programs to students around the country. Standing out in research and in more than 600 extension projects, it has been a model for many education institutions.
Delegations
Nine delegations from eight countries signed an agreement for their athletes to practice at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Delegations that will be using the infrastructure provided by UFJF:
Volleyball
– the men’s team of Egypt
Athletics
– Canada (olympic and paralympic)
– China
– Slovakia
– USA (one athlete)
– Estonia
– Poland
– Qatar
The Federal University of Juiz de Fora will receive around 340 professionals directly involved in sports activities, including technical staff and athletes. Family members, friends, foreign journalists and fans are also expected.
The Chinese delegation, with one hundred members, will be the first to land in Juiz de Fora. Most of the other teams will arrive between July 23rd and August 1st and then, on August 10th will head to Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the olympic and paralympic games.
Security
After many deliberations and meetings, 12 institutions linked to security sectors in different instances of power defined a plan for the safety of the activities that will happen in the campus of UFJF during the preparation of the athletes for de Olympic Games.
All were thought to provide comfort and safety for athletes, students and visitors. Changes in traffic, police personnel actions and other measures have been taken to make the period of activities as safe and pleasent as possible.
