Associate Professor of Brazilian History and Methodology of History in the Department of History and the Graduate Program in History (Programa de Pós-Graduação em História – PPGH) at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora – UFJF). Researcher at the Laboratory of Political and Social History (Laboratório de História Política e Social – LAHPS-UFJF). Researcher at the Research Center for Empires and Places in Brazil (Núcleo de Pesquisa Impérios e Lugares no Brasil – ILB-UFOP). PhD in Social History from the University of São Paulo (Universidade de São Paulo – USP), with postdoctoral research in the Social History of Labor at the State University of Campinas (Universidade Estadual de Campinas – Unicamp) and postdoctoral research at the University of Lisbon (Universidade de Lisboa – ULisboa) (Senior Fellowship/CAPES). He has experience in the area of the history of the Empire of Brazil and the First Republic and with topics such as associative culture, mutualism, social movements, popular classes, formation of the working class, slave monarchy, abolition and abolitionism in Brazil.
