Full Professor in the Department and Graduate Program in History (Programa de Pós-Graduação em História – PPGH) at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora – UFJF). CNPq Research Productivity Fellow – Level 1D. PhD in History from the State University of Campinas (Universidade Estadual de Campinas – Unicamp). She was a Getty Foundation Fellow at Institut National d Histoire de l Art in Paris (2003-2004). She received the Florestan Fernandes Thesis Grand Prize from CAPES in 2006 (awarded to the best thesis presented in 2005 in the broad areas of human sciences, applied social sciences and linguistics, languages and arts). She carried out postdoctoral research at Universitat Jaume I in Castelló, Spain, and at the National School of Anthropology and History (Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia-INAH), Mexico. She has experience in the area of art history, working mainly on the following topics: History of art in Brazil in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; history of art in the nineteenth century; comparative studies in art history; and history of and collection at the Mariano Procópio Museum (Museu Mariano Procópio).
