20 years of Graduate Program in History of UFJF

On September 23, 2024, the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Graduate Program in History was celebrated in the auditorium of the Murilo Mendes Art Museum (MAMM). The event, fundamental in the celebration of our trajectory, began at 2pm, with a solemn table in which were present the vice-rector of UFJF (Prof. Dr. Telmo Motta Ronzani), the pro-rector of graduate and research (Profa. Dra. Priscila de Faria), the director of the Institute of Human Sciences (Prof. Dr. Fernando Perlatto), the coordinator of PPGH (Prof. Dr. Martinho Alves da Costa Junior) and the superintendent of MAMM (Prof. Dr. Aloisio Arnaldo Nunes de Castro). Afterwards, at 2:30 pm, the opening table was made, with the presence of teachers who participated in the foundation of the program and who work in the lines of research that we develop: Profa. Dra. Claudia Viscardi, Profa. Dra. Maraliz Christo and Profa. Dra. Carla de Almeida.

Thereafter, at 4pm, the Italian historian Giovanni Levi, professor emeritus of the Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, gave the inaugural class. The conference was open to the public and marked the launch of Levi’s latest book, an extended edition of “Centro e periferia di uno stato assoluto”, translated into Portuguese and published by Letra e Voz. The work was organized in partnership by the professors Maíra Ines Vendrame, from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos), and Mônica Ribeiro de Oliveira, from UFJF.
