EXTENDED TECHNIQUE, COGNITIVE ARTIFACT AND CREATIVITY

The emergence of extended techniques in music constitutes an exemplary case for investigating phenomena of transformational creativity and its dependence on artifacts. Paradigm examples in 20th century music are examined in this course, including Toru Takemitsu, Luigi Nono and Karlheinz Stockhausen.
