STRICTO-SENSU GRADUATE PROGRAM IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The Stricto-Sensu Postgraduate Program, master’s and doctorate, was created in 2007 and is offered through the broad association between the Department of Physical Education of the Federal University of Viçosa (DES-UFV) and the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of Federal University of Juiz de Fora (FAEFID-UFJF), currently having the concept 5 (five) in the CAPES assessment (Scale 3 to 7).

Student training seeks to meet the demand for highly qualified human resources and is directed towards the training of researchers or teachers in higher education, in addition to qualifying professionals for professional performance. The graduate of the program acquires knowledge and skills related to the conduct of scientific research, production and dissemination of knowledge on topics related to Physical Education.

 

Goals:

Develop research and train researchers in the different areas of knowledge of Physical Education;

Contribute to the production of academic – scientific knowledge for the development and consolidation of Physical Education as an area of ​​knowledge;

Disseminate knowledge through technical-scientific events, exchanging between researchers and professionals;

Train teaching researchers for higher education.

 

Mission:

Cultivate sound ethical principles of scientific conduct and encourage social responsibility;

Provide experience and experience in basic and applied research in Physical Education;

Stimulate the student’s creativity, critical thinking and intellectual independence;

Train leaders to work in the academic, business and governmental spheres.

 

The Program develops studies in the “Concentration Area: Exercise and Sport”, which is divided into two lines of research:

1) Physical activity and health, which focuses on the study of the effects of physical exercise, physical activity and physical inactivity on the health of various population groups in experimental models, and

2) Studies of sport and its manifestations, which works in the research of socio-historical, biological, psychological and methodological aspects of sport and its manifestations.
