Ongoing projects in Navarro’s group:

  • Design, synthesis, and characterization of coordination compounds as chemotherapeutic agents for the treatment of parasitic diseases and cancer.
  • Study of their bioavailability properties include solubility, stability, lipophilicity, etc.
  • Understand the role of the main and auxiliary ligands, as well of the transition metal ion contained in the designed metallodrug to reach the target, cross the cell membrane, etc.
  • Molecular elucidations of the possible mechanisms of action through identify important biological targets.
  • Evaluation of the catalytic activity of selected bioactive coordination compounds.
