LaQBIC 2019
Our research interests are related with medicinal inorganic chemistry and catalysis. Particularly, in the synthetic of bioactive coordination compounds and their structural characterization. The study of their medicinal properties on diverse diseases including parasitic diseases, fungal infections and cancer, accompanied this with the elucidation of their possible mechanisms of action through identify important biological targets such as DNA, haem group (for malaria), albumin, thioredoxin reductase, etc. Besides, the study of the role of metal ions in biological systems, we also focus on the leader compounds as possible chemotherapeutic agents against parasites and/ or cancer cells. Furthermore, selected bioactive metal complexes are investigated as novel applications in various catalytic process.
