Library

The Knowledge Dissemination Center (Centro de Difusão do Conhecimento, CDC) consists of 14 libraries, one of which is a university library, and 13 libraries located throughout UFJF’s campus. The CDC has 80 employees and a collection of 128,336 items and 306,589 copies of books, theses, dissertations, government publications and multimedia materials; 2,919 items of printed journals, and 307 periodicals; and 2,325 e-books.

In the period between 2010 and 2012 a major acquisition of bibliographic material was made: 11,332 books, 45,696 issues. Several online sources of information have been acquired: subscription of 2,049 items of the Virtual Library 3.0 Pearson (especially Humanities and Exact Sciences, perpetual access to electronic books of the Atheneu collection (emphasis in Health) and IEEEXplore, complete collection of ABNT, and JSTOR, HeinOnline and vlex databases.

In the same period, there was the construction/modernization of the libraries of the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Economics, Social Sciences and Exact Sciences. Further:

  • There is a module in the Integrated Academic Management (SIGA-Library) responsible for the automation of services of study, reservation and borrowing.
  • The Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations contains all the theses and graduate dissertations defended in UFJF, available on www.bdtd.ufjf.br
  • The CDC has an infocenter with 30 computers, carries out user training in research and bibliographic standards, as well as bibliographic exchange services and production of catalog cards for TCCs (monographs for course completion), dissertations and theses.
  • Several of the Research Groups participating in the program have their own libraries.
