ALEXANDER MOREIRA DE ALMEIDA, MD, PhD
Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) School of Medicine and Founder and Director of the Research Center in Spirituality and Health, Brazil (www.ufjf.br/nupes-eng). Chair of the WPA (World Psychiatric Association) Section on Religion, Spirituality and Psychiatry and coordinator of the section on spirituality of the Brazilian Psychiatric Association. Coordinator of the Position Statement on Spirituality and Religion in Psychiatry of World Psychiatric Association (WPA). He obtained a medical degree at UFJF and was trained in psychiatry and cognitive-behavioral therapy at the Institute of Psychiatry of the University of São Paulo, Brazil, where he also obtained his PhD in Health Sciences. Formerly a postdoctoral fellow in religion and health at Duke University, USA. He was Vice-Dean of Graduate studies at UFJF. His main research interests involve the mind-brain problem, exploration of the association between religiosity and health, empirical studies of spiritual experiences as well as the methodology, history and epistemology of this research field, psychotic and dissociative experiences in nonclinical population.

Graduated in Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1990), holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1993) and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1999). ANA PAULA FERREIRA
Graduated in Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Uberlândia (1986), holds a Master’s Degree in Immunology from the University of São Paulo (1992) and a PhD in Immunology from the University of São Paulo (1995). Since 1991, she has been a professor of Immunology, which composes the Department of Parasitology, Microbiology and Immunology of UFJF’s Institute of Biological Sciences (ICB), and is currently a tenured professor. She has experience in Cellular Immunology, mainly in the following research lines: Immune Response of Co-infections, Biological Activity of New Drugs, Study of Immune Response Modulation of Experimental Multiple Sclerosis and Experimental Allergic Asthma. From March 2006 to August 2010 she was the coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Biological Sciences: Immunology/Genetics and Biotechnology (Master), which was approved by CAPES in 2005. She is an advisor-professor for Master’s and PhD programs in Biological Sciences: Immunology/Genetics and Biotechnology at ICB, and also for the Postgraduate Program in Brazilian Health at UFJF’s School of Medicine since 2005. She took on the chair of director of the Institute of Biological Sciences at UFJF on August 20, 2010.

ANDRÉ AVARESE DE FIGUEIREDO
Holds a degree in Medicine from the School of Medicine at the University of São Paulo (1996) and a PhD in Urology from the Hospital das Clinicas at USP’s School of Medicine (2006). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery/Urology Service of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora and an Advisor-Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Brazilian Health at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. VIEIRA, BJ; Aarestrup, BJV graduated from the Dental School – UFJF (1996), Master’s Degree (2000) and PhD in Pathology, UFF (2006). She is currently an associate professor level II at UFJF for the Department of Morphology/Histology of the Institute of Biological Sciences. ELAINE SOARES COIMBRA

FERNANDO ANTONIO BASILE COLUGNATI
holds a degree in Statistics from the University of Campinas (Unicamp, 1994), a Master’s Degree in Statistics from the University of Campinas (Unicamp, 2001) and a PhD in Sciences from UNIFESP (2005). Currently, he is an associate professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora’s Department of Hospitalization/FM (2013) and an advisor of the Postgraduate Program in Psychology and Health (UFJF), where he supervises students who are writing their dissertations in order to obtain both the Master’s Degree (6 students are still in progress and 2 students have already completed it) and the PhD (1 student is still in progress), besides supervising scientific programs as well. He is also conducting researches regarding evaluating costs and health technologies at the Interdisciplinary Center for Studies and Research in Nephrology (NIEPEN/UFJF). In the present moment, two of his research projects are being funded by FAPEMIG, and he is taking part in other research lines conducted by the group. At the Reference Center for Research, Intervention and Evaluation on Alcohol and Other Drugs (CREPEIA/UFJF), he collaborates with projects which assess public service for drug addicts, epidemiology of smoking and the development and validation of psychometric instruments. He is a member of the International Society for Pharmachological and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) and the International Society of Biometry (ISB – RBRAS). He is also an advisor for the Journal of Tropical Medicine regarding statistical methods, and is a reviser for several national and international journals. He has experience in the field of probability and statistics, with emphasis on Biostatistics, conducting studies on the following topics: correspondence analysis, multivariate analysis and generalized linear models and Markov models with application in epidemiology. He has worked as a research associate at the Institute for Research in Technology and Innovation (IPTI), with application of probabilistic methods in the decision support systems (Bayesian networks) and Stochastic Models for Social Network Analysis. Within this research line, an academic internship was performed at the Higher Level Institute of Lisbon (Superior Técnico de Lisboa) as part of the ALFA program of the European Commission. He is also a collaborator researcher for the GEOPI/DPCT/IG/UNICAMP regarding results assessment and impacts on CT&I programs, where he has completed his post-doctorate studies and has participated in the evaluation of programs such as the IT Act (MCT) and programs to promote research at FAPESP, such as the IC Scholarship, for instance. FERNANDO MONTEIRO AARESTRUP
Tenured professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. Graduated in Medicine at the School of Medicine of Valença-RJ/Educational Foundation Dom André Arcoverde. Holds a degree in Dentistry from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. Specialist in Allergy and Immunopathology from the Brazilian Association of Allergy and Immunopathology (ASBAI). Holds a Master’s degree in Pathology from the Federal Fluminense University (2006) and a PhD in Pathology from the Federal Fluminense University. Completed a Post-doctorate training in Immunopathology at the Rockefeller University (USA) and at the University of Porto (Portugal). Has clinical and laboratory experience in Immunology, with emphasis on Immunopathology, conducting studies on the following areas: inflammatory response, laser therapy, immunohistochemistry, autoimmune diseases, immunotherapy, allergic diseases, clinical trials in humans and experimental drug trials. Completed all stages of training in Human Resources/Research for his degree and teaching career at UFJF. Had a scientific initiation scholarship awarded by CNPq, a Master’s and a PhD scholarship awarded by CAPES and also a productivity in research scholarship awarded by CNPq. He has worked as an advisor-professor for the Master and PhD programs since 1997. HÉLADY SANDERS PINHEIRO
Graduated in Medicine at the Federal University of Ceará (1990), holds a Master’s degree in Medicine (Nephrology) from the Federal University of São Paulo (1996) and a PhD in Medicine (Nephrology) from the Federal University of São Paulo (2001). HENRIQUE COUTO TEIXEIRA
Graduated in Pharmacy at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, holds a MA and PhD in Immunology from the University of São Paulo (USP, 1987 and 1991), and a postdoctorare from the University of Ulm, Germany (1991-1993) with Stefan Kaufmann, MD. He was a visiting professor at Leiden University Medical Center (2002) in the Tom Ottenhoff, MD laboratory. He is a tenured professor in the Department of Parasitology, Microbiology and Immunology at UFJF’s Institute of Biological Sciences. He is responsible for the Mobile Technology Center and Applied Immunology of the same institute. He participated in the foundation of postgraduate courses in Biological Sciences (Immunology) and Health at UFJF. He was a founder and coordinator of the Specialization Course in Parasitology, Microbiology and Immunology at UFJF’s Institute of Biological Sciences (from 2005 to 2012 – 5 classes, 99 students). Supervisions completed: 18 masters, 9 doctorates, 10 monographs/specialization works, 43 scientific initiation works. He has 64 full articles printed in journals. He has written two books and has two patent applications filed. He works with the following research lines: 1) infections caused by intracellular microorganisms, especially tuberculosis and leprosy – evaluation of new antigens/immunodiagnostics; 2) autogenous transplant spleen: focusing on the importance of preserving the spleen to control infections; 3) new drugs Study: analog evaluation of thalidomide and study of other drugs with anti-inflammatory activity.

JOSÉ MURILLO BASTOS NETTO
Graduated in Medicine from the Medical School of Barbacena (1992). He did residency in Urology at USP’s Ribeirão Preto Medical School Hospital and fellowship in Pediatric Urology at the Children’s Hospital of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (1998-1999). He is a PhD in Surgery from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School at the University of São Paulo (2001). He is currently an associate professor at the Department of Surgery, the Chief of Urology at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora’s School of Medicine, and a professor of Medical Residency in Urology at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora’s University Hospital, where he coordinates the Pediatric Urology ward. He works as a pediatric urologist in Juiz de Fora. He is one of the coordinators of the Department of Pediatric Urology of the Brazilian Society of Urology.

Holds a degree in Physical Education from the University Center of United Metropolitan Colleges – FMU (1998). He is a specialist in Physiology of Exercise from the Federal University of São Paulo – UNIFESP (2000). PhD in Sciences – Cardiology from the Heart Institute (InCor) of the School of Medicine of the University of São Paulo – HCFMUSP (2007). He is currently an associate professor of the School of Physical Education and Sports of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (FAEFID-UFJF). He is the coordinator of the Specialization Program in Physical Activity in Health and Cardiac Rehabilitation at FAEFID-UFJF and of the Graduate Program in Physical Education, Master and PhD levels, of the School of Physical Education and Sports at UFJF. He is the Vice-Dean of FAEFID-UFJF, the head of the Physical Assessment Unit of the University Hospital of UFJF and the lead researcher of the Unit of Cardiovascular Research and Physiology of Exercise (CNPq). MAURO VIEIRA DE ALMEIDA
Holds a degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1986), a master’s degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1989) under the supervision of A. S. Machado, a PhD in Chemistry – University Paris XI (Paris-Sud) (1993) under the supervision of S. D. Gero and a post-doctorate degree in Chemistry from the University of Texas (1993-1994) under the supervision of Sir D. H. R. Barton. He was the deputy coordinator of the Postgraduate program in Chemistry at UFJF from March of 2004 to March of 2007 and the coordinator of said program from March of 2007 to March of 2010. Member of the collegiate of the program from March of 2004 to March of 2010. Professor and supervisor of the Postgraduate Program in Chemistry at UFJF. Member of the permanent staff of the Graduate Program in Brazilian Health at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF). Member of the Exact Sciences and Materials Advisory Board (CEX) of FAPEMIG from June of 2008 to November of 2012. Member of the Brazilian Society of Chemistry and of the Minas Gerais Chemical Network. Coordinator of the Minas Gerais Multicenter Graduate Program in Chemistry since January of 2014. He has published over 100 articles in journals indexed in the field, being a consultant to several of these. He is a coordinator and a team member of various research projects and CT-INFRAs funded by development agencies. He has experience in Organic Chemistry, with emphasis in Organic Synthesis, studying the following topics: carbohydrate synthesis and medicinal chemistry.

Holds a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry – Clinical Analysis – from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1993), a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry – Industry – from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1994), a master’s degree in Toxicology and Toxicological Analysis from the University of São Paulo (1998) and a PhD in Toxicology from the University of São Paulo (2003). Associate professor of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, with experience in Pharmacy and emphasis on technological innovation and entrepreneurship, nanotechnology and skin permeation, studying the following topics: development of new products, technological innovation, pre-clinical and clinical trials of (new) drugs. Coordinator of the Center for Research and Innovation in Life Sciences (Núcleo de Pesquisa e Inovação em Ciências da Saúde, NUPICS). NATÁLIA MARIA DA SILVA FERNANDES
Holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1993), completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) (1994-1996), holds a master’s degree in Nephrology from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) (1997 -1999) and a PhD in Brazilian Health from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) (2007-2009). Doctor of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) (Medical and Clinical Nephrology), of the IMEPEN Foundation (Minas Gerais Institute of Education and Research in Nephrology); associate professor of the Department of Internal Medicine of the School of Medicine. She participates in the Center of Education and Research in Nephrology (NIEPEN) at UFJF. She did her post doctorate at the University of Leiden, Netherlands, in Epidemiology. She is the chief of the Replacement Renal Therapy Service of HU-UFJF-EBSERH.

ROBERT WILLER FARINAZZO VITRAL
Holds a degree in Dentistry from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1984), a master’s degree in Dentistry/Orthodontics (1986) and a PhD in Dentistry/Orthodontics (2000) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is a tenured professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, coordinator of publications of the Graduate Program in Health (Masters and PhD in Brazilian Health) of the School of Medicine at UFJF, supervisor of research and publication of the PPG in Dental Clinical of the School of Dentistry at UFJF and Coordinator of the specialization course in Orthodontics, School of Dentistry at UFJF. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal A3-UFJF, Brazilian Research in Pediatric Dentistry and Integrated Clinic, Dental Press Journal of Orthodontics and reviser of several journals, among which: the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Journal of World Federation of Orthodontists, European Journal of Orthodontics and Angle Orthodontist. He studies the subject areas of diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of diseases in dentistry and technological innovation in healthcare. ROGÉRIO BAUMGRATZ DE PAULA
Holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1982), a master’s degree in Medicine (Nephrology) from the Federal University of São Paulo – Paulista School of Medicine (1989) and a PhD in Medicine (Nephrology) from the Federal University of São Paulo – Paulista School of Medicine (1992). He is a former fellow of the Department of Renal Physiology at the University of Mississippi, Jackson, MS (2001-2002). He is currently a tenured professor of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora and of the Nephrology Center of the Postgraduate program of Brazilian Health of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. VERA MARIA PETERS
Holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1974), a master’s degree in Embryology and Histology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1980) and a PhD in Animal Biology from Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (1998). Faculty member of the undergraduate level of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, currently associate level IV. She has held several administrative and academic positions, such as head of the Department of Biology, coordinator of the Graduate Course in Biological Sciences, and is currently a member of the Sectorial Chamber of Graduate Studies and Research, a member of the Academic Merit Commission, the director of the Reproductive Biology Center of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, in addition to teaching classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervising students’ research and academic works of course completion (known as TCC), as well as dissertations and theses. At the state level, she is the coordinator of the Minas Gerais Network of Vivariums: Minas Gerais Network of Pharmacological and Toxicological Testing. At the national level, she is an active member of the Brazilian Society of Science in Laboratory Animals (Sociedade Brasileira de Ciência em Animais de Laboratório, SBCAL)/Brazilian College of Animal Experimentation (Colégio Brasileiro de Experimentação Animal, COBEA), occupying various roles, including the presidency from 2012 to 2014. She is a member of the National Council of Animal Experimentation Control of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. She has experience in the field of Morphology, with emphasis on Histology, studying mainly the following topics: laboratory animals science, pre-clinical studies of drugs and medicines.
