The Graduate Program in Chemistry, approved by CAPES with grade 6, now has a wide range of options in fields of study in large areas of Chemistry (Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Education in Chemistry) with a qualified guiding body of professors (more than 70% with post-doctorate abroad), and over 270 defenses of theses and dissertations since its inception.

The research infrastructure of the Department of Chemistry at UFJF now has an excellent condition and can develop work in various bordering areas of chemistry.

There are 6 active lines of study:

I – Chemical Analysis, Environmental Chemistry, and Sustainability;

II – Chemistry Education;

III – Materials Spectroscopy;

IV – Chemical Synthesis and Natural Products;

V – Computational Chemistry and Physical Chemistry of Macromolecules;

VI – Technological Chemistry, Bioinorganic Chemistry, and Catalysis.

Finally, Juiz de Fora is a privileged city, located within the triangle Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo-Belo Horizonte, with an excellent infrastructure and a high quality of life, according to the latest Quality Index in the evaluation of Brazilian municipalities.
