Dental Pulp Biobank
Dental Pulp Biobank – DPB, a Cell Technology Laboratory located at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora – UFJF, directed by professors and researchers of this institution. It was founded in 2015 with the aim of collecting, transporting, processing, extracting, expanding, storing and making human dental pulp stem cells available for research and future therapeutic applications related to human health. Aiming the maximum efficiency of the process through an excellent ethical, technological and gestational conduct to ensure total quality and safety at all stages of the procedure.
Biobanks are the main resource for the practice of personalized medicine and translational research, as they provide biological samples, the substrate that enables the discovery of biomarkers, polymorphisms and experimental models for the study of diseases.
Dental Pulp Biobank presents adequate infrastructure to ensure that the human biological samples stored and used in various researches are of the highest quality. These samples are stored at -80° and -196° Celsius, necessary to preserve the integrity of the biological samples.
The biological samples stored at Biobank come from research in progress, which are approved by the Ethics Committee for Research with Human Beings (CEP) of the UFJF.
