On November 24th, 25th and 26th, 2020, the 3rd Scientific and Technological Forum in Dentistry of Juiz de Fora was held on-line, promoted by the Graduate Program in Dentistry at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora due to the COVID-19 pandemic scenario. The forum’s main purpose was to congregate professors, researchers, professionals, undergraduate and graduate students to experience different activities in teaching, research and technology. The main themes addressed were: research methodologies, scientific research in corporations, scientific research in social networks, and inclusion of the research theme in university extension practices.
It is important to highlight the interaction with other university institutions and research centers in Brazil, with six lectures by prominent professors and researchers: Dr. Ana Paula dos Santos and Dr. Antônio Fernando Monnerat from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ); Dr. Alessando Dourado Loguercio from the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG); Dr. Rafael Ratto de Moraes from the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel); Dr. Saul Martins de Paiva of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG); and Dr. Heitor Marques Honório from the University of São Paulo (USP –Bauru).
Aiming to promote cultural activity and greater interaction among participants, a YouTube live was performed with regional singer Thiago Miranda.
Approximately 390 people attended the event from 17 states in Brazil (AC, BA, CE, DF, ES, MA, MG, PA, PB, PI, PR, RJ, RS, SC, SE, SP, TO) and two other countries in America Latina (Peru and Bolivia). 61% of the public attended for the first time to the Scientific and Technological Forum on Dentistry in Juiz de Fora for the first time.
One hundred e eighty posters and oral presentations were presented in the categories: Scientific Research, Clinical Conference and Literary Reviews. The posters and oral presentations were evaluated by two reviewers, which were professors, alumnus or graduate students. The presentations were divided into three categories: Scientific Poster (academic), Scientific Poster (professional) and Oral Presentation. And the three best rated presentations in each of the categories were awarded.
The event promoted great visibility of the Graduate Program in Dentistry at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora and great interaction between students, professors and researchers from UFJF and several other institutions in Brazil and Latin America, enabling interaction, discussion and learning of methodologies for research development and other points of interest.
