The Graduate Program in History at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora - PPGH/UFJF), recommended by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, Ministry of Education (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, Ministério de Educação - CAPES-MEC), began its activities in August 2004 with a Master's course and, in 2011, with a PhD course. In 2022, the PPGH/UFJF completed 18 years of existence and is structured from the concentration area History, Culture and Power, which aggregates two lines of research: Narratives, Images and Sociabilities and Politics, Culture and Work. The Narratives, Images and Sociabilities line brings together researchers with activities organized within the Center for Studies in the Social History of Politics (Núcleo de Estudos em História Social da Política - NEHSP), the Laboratory of Art History (Laboratório de História da Arte - LAHA), the Laboratory of Cultural Heritage (Laboratório de Patrimônios Culturais - LAPA) and the research group on African studies, AFRIKAS. The Politics, Culture and Labor line has the investigations linked to the Laboratory of Economic and Social History (Laboratório de História Econômica e Social - LAHES), the Laboratory of Political and Social History (Laboratório de História Política e Social - LAHPS), the Laboratory of Oral History and Image (Laboratório de História Oral e Imagem - LABHOI) and the Audiovisual and Cinema Laboratory (Laboratório de Audiovisual e Cinema - LACA). In these years of existence, the PPGH/UFJF has been consolidating itself as an important reference in the area, being, with excellence, endorsed with concept 6 in the CAPES evaluation (2017-2020).
