The Graduate Program in Social Sciences at UFJF began its activities in 2005, when the Master's degree was authorized by CAPES; five years later, in 2009, the doctoral course was authorized and started. It obtained the concept 04 in the last CAPES assessment (Quadriennium 2013 – 2016). The Program comprises the concentration area “Culture, Power and Institutions” and is structured into three research lines  – “Culture, Democracy and Institutions”, “Public Policies and Social Inequality” and “Culture, Symbolic Productions and Social Processes”.
