Research areas

“Epidemiological, clinical, histopathological and molecular aspects of diseases and health problems”

This study area is focused on evaluating and obtaining population epidemiological data to understand the health-disease process. It also aims to investigate human diseases’ microbiological, parasitological, clinical, imaging, histopathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular aspects. Research projects that can contribute to the understanding and formulation of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for diseases and health problems are welcome.

“Health Assessment, Promotion and Intervention”

This study area is focused on developing studies on health assessment methods and instruments; identification of risk factors for the development of diseases, including psychosocial processes; preventive and educational health care for the population; and interventions in different areas of health, which mainly include physical activity and rehabilitation of neuromusculoskeletal disorders.

“Biomaterials and Innovation in Health”

This study area is focused on scientific-technological innovation encompassing the development of biomaterials and techniques to be applied in clinical procedures in the areas of human and/or animal health with laboratory and clinical studies. Studies in this area include the production and characterization of polymeric, ceramic, and composite biomaterials; analysis of chemical and microbiological properties; analysis of the biological behavior of materials; analysis of the physical and mechanical properties of materials; study and application of biomaterials in procedures used in clinical practices; bioactive compounds in foods of interest to human health, industry and development of antimicrobial compounds.
