We are an interdisciplinary graduate program with Master’s and Doctorate courses (Grade 5 at CAPES), focused on offering multidisciplinary training in problem solving with innovative techniques, applying theoretical concepts, ranging from the mathematical description of problems to the development of Robust computational solutions.
We evaluate real problems with a multidisciplinary perspective applying theoretical concepts, ranging from the mathematical description of problems to the development and testing of models. The course also addresses the applied part, involving the creation of computational systems for the efficient implementation of the solutions found.
Anyone interested in a multidisciplinary training that involves knowledge of at least two interrelated areas, but which are not usually covered in a single course. We have already received students from the following training areas: Computer Science, Engineering (Civil, Computational, Electrical, Mechanical, Production, Control and Automation), Biology, Biomedicine, Dentistry, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics and Administration.
The mission of the Graduate Program in Computational Modeling at UFJF is to train quality human resources committed to an interdisciplinary approach in solving problems with innovative techniques, applying theoretical concepts, ranging from the mathematical description of problems to the development of Robust computational solutions. The program’s vision is to be a reference in the formation of qualified human resources, in the production of interdisciplinary knowledge and in the generation of computational technologies in the interior of the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.
The PPGMC reflects the advances achieved in research and technological development activities, as well as the experience in training human resources of UFJF professors who are closely involved with the lines of research: Applied Numerical Methods and Applied Computational Systems.
In this way, the general objectives of the program are the formation of highly qualified human resources, at the master’s and doctoral level, with mathematical and computational foundation, being able to develop teaching activities at a higher level, research, technological development, and other activities. in the field of computational modeling.
Furthermore, given that the complexity of the problems faced in technological and scientific development increases over time, computational solutions also become more complex. In addition to the need to use efficient computational methods, there is often a need to integrate several systems so that the objectives are achieved. In this way, the training of human resources that have the capacity to develop computational systems capable of assisting in the solution of these complex problems is also one of the objectives of the program. The program also wants to consolidate itself as a space for bringing together researchers, Brazilians and foreigners, and for the development of inter-institutional collective research projects capable of providing computational solutions to the demands of science, the labor market, industry and society.
