The Graduate Program in Computational Modeling has its origins in the research and development work carried out at the Research Center for Computational Methods in Engineering (NUMEC – Faculty of Engineering / UFJF) and at the Department of Computer Science (DCC – Instituto de Ciências Exact / UFJF). These works, dealing with problems of different natures, have in common the use of computational modeling techniques, which motivated a partnership to propose a multidisciplinary postgraduate course exploring these techniques.
Since its formulation, the proposal for this course has also been supported by the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC), through an institutional partnership. The course proposal was approved by CAPES in September 2005 and the Master in Computational Modeling started its teaching activities in March 2006.
